How to choose your pixel art desk mat

Forty-seven designs is a lot to scroll. They sort into six worlds.

RPG maps and fantasy worlds

Parchment continents, trade routes, sea monsters in the margins. These are the ones people notice from across a room and then walk over to read, and they only work at the larger sizes. Start with the fantasy world map or the RPG map.

Castles, knights and dragons

Towers on cliffs, a lone knight on a ridge, a dragon over a burning valley. High-fantasy and unapologetic about it. See the medieval fantasy castle and the fantasy dragon.

Cozy villages and forests

Warm windows, autumn trees, a windmill turning over a field. The quiet half of the collection, closer to a farming sim than a dungeon crawl, and the group that holds up best on a desk you also work from. Look at the cozy forest and the countryside.

Neon cities and cyberpunk

Rain on glass, signage in three languages, purple light bouncing off everything. The darkest designs here, which also makes them the most forgiving about dust and wear. The rainy neon city and the cyberpunk city.

Space in 8-bit

Observatories, spacecraft, an astronaut rendered in about thirty pixels. Sits between this collection and the space one, and works on a desk that has nothing else going on. The galaxy observatory and the pixel art astronaut.

Seasonal, but only just

A few of these lean into a season without committing to a holiday: fall forests in orange and rust, snowstorms over a mountain pass, a haunted house that reads as retro game rather than Halloween decor. They stay up all year. The fall landscape and the snowstorm mountain.

Which size for pixel art

Pixel art is the one style where size changes what you actually get. A landscape or a map needs the 16" × 32" to read as a scene; at 9" × 7" you're looking at a detail of it. If you want the small size, pick a design with one clear subject — a castle, a tree, a spacecraft — rather than a sprawling world.

What size desk mat do you need?

Measure the width of your desk first, then pick one size down. A desk mat should leave a little breathing room on each side — edge to edge looks cramped.

Size Measurements Fits
Small9" × 7"Mouse only
Medium12" × 18"Laptop, or mouse + notebook
Large12" × 22"Keyboard + mouse, tight
XL16" × 32"Keyboard, mouse, coffee, room to breathe

Most people buying a desk pad for a full setup go XL. Gamers who need mouse travel: XL, always.

Pixel Art Desk Mats & Retro Mouse Pads FAQ

Are these desk mats good for gaming?

Yes. The print doesn't change the surface. It's a smooth, low-friction fabric top on 3mm neoprene, so tracking stays consistent across the whole mat. The XL gives you full arm-sweep room for low-DPI play.

What's the difference between a desk mat and a mouse pad?

Size, mostly. A mouse pad covers your mouse. A desk mat, or desk pad, runs under your keyboard, mouse and everything else, and protects the desk surface underneath. Every design comes in both scales: Small for mouse-only, XL for the full desk.

Will it slide around my desk?

No. The whole underside is textured rubber. It grips glass, laminate and wood without any adhesive, and it doesn't creep during fast mouse movements.

Will the print fade?

The print is dye sublimation, so the color lives inside the fibers instead of sitting on top of them. It doesn't crack, peel or wear off where your wrist rests.

Do the edges fray?

No. The edges are stitched, not cut. That's the seam you can feel around the border, and it's what keeps a mat looking new after a year instead of shedding threads.

How do I clean it?

Warm water and a little dish soap on a cloth. You don't need to soak the whole mat, just work the spot. For anything stubborn, a soft-bristled brush does it. Air dry flat.

How long does it take to arrive?

Every mat is made to order, so there's a short production window before it ships. Exact timing for your country shows at checkout.

  • Non-Slip Rubber Base

No more mats slipping around while you're working or gaming. Each desk mat features a sturdy rubber base that grips firmly to any surface, keeping your setup stable and secure—even during intense mouse movements or daily typing. Whether you're at home or in the office, this feature guarantees comfort and control.

  • Hemmed Edges for Long-Lasting Quality

Fraying edges? Not here. Our mats are finished with clean, durable stitching that protects against wear and tear. These hemmed edges give your mat a premium look while ensuring it lasts longer, even with everyday use. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference in durability.

  • Made to Order, Made with Care

We don’t mass produce. Every desk mat is made to order—just for you. This helps us reduce waste, avoid overproduction, and create a more sustainable process. It may take a little longer, but it's worth the wait—for you and the planet.

All about our Pixel Art Desk Mats & Retro Mouse Pads

If you grew up saving at an inn before a boss fight, you already know what this is.

47 pixel art desk mats and retro mouse pads — RPG world maps, medieval castles at dusk, rainy neon cities, dragons, windmills, a coffee shop rendered in about forty colours. Drawn as pixel art, not photos run through a filter.

Printed on 3mm neoprene with a non-slip rubber back and stitched edges that don't fray, in four sizes from a 9" × 7" mouse pad to a 16" × 32" mat that holds keyboard, mouse and a mug. The widest size is where the landscapes earn their keep — a world map at mouse-pad scale is just a square of brown.
